🙏🏼 Thank you

Generally assume people speak Spanish with very little bullshit attitude.

Women wear long skirts, dresses and wedges. Men typically wear polos with jeans.

Medium, the city train (Madrid Atocha) will primarily take you everywhere.

Things we did

Some memorable stops.

El Moderno Concept Store

Delightful little store selling art, soft goods, wooden figurine, and decorative home goods. They have a fun hip selection of modern wares. See Map

Museo Reina Sofía

Multiple floors of 20th century Spanish Art, where you can find Picasso's Guernica and the process behind it. I would recommend coming early as the afternoons get a little crowded. See Map

Absent Cocktail Garden

Tucked away on a quiet street, is a garden patio where they serve experimental drinks with herbal twang. Come for the ambiance on a sunny afternoon to enjoy a refreshing beverage. See Map

Café Angélica

This coffee shop was one of the first spice shops back in 1800s. It still carries a senses of history in a humble yet personable space. I would recommend trying a coffee and perhaps buy some coffee beans to take home. See Map

Things we ate

Very delicious things

SDD2

This place has a cult following. It was one of the most experimental food experiences that had a really well executed lab and butcher theme carried in the interior, food, presentation - down to even the staff uniforms. See Site

Empanadas Malvón

Stopped by this small shop to pick up some empanadas for the walk. See Map

Brutalista

This place takes a lot of inspiration from pickling and introduces tart and acidic flavors into traditional Spanish cooking. You will find influences of Korean kimchi and marinated fish with roasted potatoes. My favorite of the dishes I had was a sous vide chicken braised in pickled sauce. See Map

StreetXO

This restaurant has a huge following. Probably because the creator is a Michelin-winning chef who decided to create a parallel restaurant with a more affordable price tag. I would recommend lining up 30 mins before opening and come at lunch. Dinner, I hear gets really crowded. You will find Asian Street Food fused with Spanish Tapas in a lively and festive atmosphere.
